SDForum Startup SIG StartUpCamp

Next meeting Monday, August 21: Mini StartUpCamp

Here's where you can add/read notes from each session (suggestions, advice, links, etc):

StartupCampSession1

StartupCampSession2

StartupCampSession3 (1st customers, sales etc.)

StartupCampSession4

StartupCampSession5

StartupCampSession6 (bootstrapping)

StartupCampSession7

StartupCampSession8

This is a format used in several unconferences over the past year: BarCamp, TagCamp (website no longer active), and MashupCamp, modified for an evening event.

If you're planning to attend, add your name to PlannedAttendees, with (optionally) some indication of your interest: what you're interested in learning, a session you're interested in leading.

Format:

6:30Registration and networking. And if you'd like to propose a session topic, write it down on a piece of paper and post it on the schedule wall
7Quick introductions and quick descriptions of each session
7:15-7:50Round 1, 3-4 sessions to choose from
8-8:30Round 2, 3-4 sessions
8:30-9Regroup and networking

The "open space" rules, that work well:

  • Whoever comes are the right people.
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.
  • Whenever it starts is the right time (but there is the schedule above).
  • When it's over, it's over.
  • Document on the Wiki (we'll have pages set up here) for others to learn
  • Law of two feet: If you find yourself not learning or contributing at any time it is your responsibility to use your two feet to find somewhere you are learning or contributing.

We'll have a designated discussion leader for each group, even if they don't talk much, just to have some organization.
